Dr. Joan C. Bowers

Dr. Joan C. Bowers is the President and Founder of Christian Counseling Concepts which began ten years ago. A Bachelor of Theology and Master of Christian Counseling degrees have been earned from Christian International College and Graduate School, and is currently a doctoral candidate in her field. She has also received an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Teamwork Bible College for her work in ministry and counseling and has authored a book, “Christian Counseling Concepts”.

The American Society of Christian Therapists has certified her as a Christian Marriage and Family Therapist and a Pastoral Counselor. She is also a Board Certified Christian Counselor with the International Board of Christian Counselors, and a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

With her rich background of studies and practical clinical experience, Dr. Bowers offers short term therapy using sound psychological and scriptural guidelines aiming at resolution with empathy and understanding.

Dr. Bowers lives with her husband of 43 years Robert W. Bowers, President and Founder of Hands for Christ. They have two married children who have blessed them with six lovely grandchildren, all of whom live nearby in Roanoke, VA.

Rev. Jon R. Harris

Rev. Jon R. Harris brings a rich background into his association with Christian Counseling Concepts, which he has been with since 2004.

He received his seminary degree in Pastoral Counseling from Eastern Mennonite Seminary and was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel. With an eclectic ecclesiastical background (Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Christian and Missionary Alliance, and Evangelical Free Church), Rev. Harris’s counseling has a broad-based spiritual foundation. In addition to his seminary training, he is a graduate of Dr. Lawrence Crabb’s Institute of Biblical Counseling and received Clinical Pastoral Education at Western State Mental Hospital in Staunton, Virginia. During his time there, he served as a Chaplain/Counselor in the Alcoholic Rehabilitation Ward.

In 1990, Rev. Harris helped to initiate the School of Christian Counseling at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, Georgia, where he taught biblical and pastoral counseling courses for eight years. He also did a significant amount of counseling with single and married students and with staff and faculty members and their families.  He has earned certifications as a Christian Marriage and Family Therapist as well as a Pastoral Counselor with the American Society of Christian Therapists. He is also a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

Rev. Harris is happily married to Patricia for 48 years. They have one daughter, who is married to an Air Force Lieutenant Colonel and has blessed them with two grandsons.
